WHAT: In conjunction with other research activities, the MERA Beach and Follow-up surveys are important tools to help us better understand beach recreation and its relationship with public health.
WHY: These types of surveys are commonly used to inform the creation of new guidelines that will help beach management and protect the health of those who visit the beach.
WHO: Scientists from Southern Methodist University and the University of South Florida work in collaboration with scientists from the Costa Rican National Water Lab and students from Costa Rican Universities to execute surveys to people visiting the beach. This effort is supported by non-governmental, non-profit organizations: Fundación MarVia and OneSea.

WHEN: August – October 2018 and January – March 2019
